On the cusp of fall, J.Crew shows no signs of slowing down on the boldness of the summer’s neon trend, showcased everywhere from nail polish to dresses reminiscent of a highlighter. The season’s layering, with its heavier textures and muted tones, allows for greater creativity, yet the atypical bright colors and prints featured in J.Crew’s fall collection provide for an untraditional, and welcome, take on the season. The brand notoriously epitomizes fall’s preppy aesthetic year-round, yet does away with its characteristic masculine touches and more basic, neutral palatte for the fall/winter 2012 season. Instead, feminine silhouettes, fun, chunky knits, daring patterns, and unexpected bright colors (particularly pinks and some traces of neon), prolong the uncharacteristic color trend of this past summer.
