Heels from Valentino’s Noir Rockstud capsule collection have solidified their place as the It Shoe of 2012, with everyone from celebrities, to fashion editors, to fashion bloggers sporting a pair. Since taking over for designer Valentino Garavani in October 2008, Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli have assumed responsibility as creative directors for the established brand, with their Rockstud collections highlighting their signature juxtaposition of dark elements with Valentino’s trademark feminine elegance. The Noir collection of shoes, purses, and small leather goods acts as the darker and edgier extension of the brand’s Rockstud line, full of studs and luxury materials such as pony skin, python, and crocodile. While retaining some edgy traces of Noir, Rockstud’s spring 2013 collection is more seasonably appropriate in its palette of bright lemon, lime, and tropical punch pink. Several items feature ornate detailing, such as floral embroidery on clutches and bejeweled flats and smoking shoes. The beloved Rockstud heel is maintained in the spring collection, in addition to sandal variations (in lime green, no less).
