Style Crush: Michelle Phillips

Picture 8

Along with Bianca Jagger, Anita Pallenberg, and Talitha Getty, Phillips is credited with bringing the bohemian style of the 60s and 70s to the masses. Shortly after becoming a member of folk band the New Journeymen, Philips and new husband John Phillips disbanded and formed The Mamas & the Papas with Cass Elliot and Denny Doherty of another recently defunct band, The Mugwumps. This transition also marked Phillips trading the more traditional clothing of her conventional upbringing for the bohemian trends of the era. As the band’s fame grew, so did the public’s perception of Phillips as poster child for the style.
