Mad for Mad Men

The 60s has been a big force behind spring trends for 2013, with AMC’s Mad Men, which has recently led to an increased interest in the time period, acting as one of the inspirations. Estée Lauder introduced their limited edition Mad Men collection last spring, and round two is slated to launch this March, just as the series debuts its sixth season. A few of the items are exact replicas of Estée Lauder’s products from the 1960s, including the Rich Lipstick in fluted gold, and the bottle design of the Nail Lacquer, with the collection’s packaging similarly influenced by the brand’s look from the decade. Products will be available at Estée Lauder and Bloomingdales.

After finding success with its collections from the past two years, Banana Republic will launch its third Mad Men-inspired line February 27th, which was designed in collaboration with the show’s Emmy-winning costume designer, Janie Bryant.  This season’s designs will be more mod than the previous two, reflecting the late 1960s setting of the past season. While pieces are constructed from Bryant’s favorite costumes from the show, they are translated with a modern approach, and feature shift dresses, keyhole details, geometric accessories, and the colors and patterns associated with the era.

Items are available worldwide in select Banana Republic stores, and online at BananaRepublic.com. Prices for women’s apparel and accessories ranges from $30-$140, and prices for men’s apparel from $45-$375.
