With Tory Burch being a bona fide globetrotter, it’s not surprising that her lush spring 2013 collection incorporates artifacts from her travels. Her recent trip to Morocco inspired the line, which is made for a woman who shares her same curiosity for the world: “A stylish magpie who travels the world and picks up unique and beautiful things everywhere she goes and then comes back and adds them to her classic American sportswear.” The collection has remnants of Tory’s preppy, feminine silhouettes, yet with an edge not normally associated with the designer. The messy fishtails braids and wheat print of the first several looks, an homage to America, were mixed with ethnic African details, including prints (hand-dyed bazin and handmade tie-dye fabric from artisans in Guinea), rings from Ghana, embroidery, tassels at the hem, beading, and raffia.
I personally love the sunny yellows and whites, decorated waist details on the last two looks, Angelique blouse, and particularly that light blue dress. Oh boy. What are your favorites?
