Lemonade is one of the season’s classic refreshments, yet I thought a spritz of sparkling water would add more punch, perfect for summer BBQs and pool parties. Flavored seltzers are an alternative, especially with kids, who may want to test flavor variations. Traditional lemonade recipes call for a half cup to a cup less water (in my case, sparkling water) than I prefer, so I’d recommend keeping a bottle of it on hand, depending on your guests’ preferences.
- 1 1/2 cups lemon juice (around 10 lemons)
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 1/2-3 cups of sparkling water (I used Pellegrino).
1. Squeeze lemons and filter through sieve, making sure all (or most, depending on preference) pulp and seeds are discarded. Stir in sugar until fully dissolved. Add sparking water.
2. Garnish with mint, lemon slices, and/or festive straws.
