Behind Disney Magic

Much is lost in generational gaps, particularly in today’s world in which smart phones are practically an appendage, creating an even greater disconnect between the tech savvy and non-tech savvy generations. We can all relax, however, because, Hey! There’s still the universal appeal of Disney’s theatrical animated feature films to help ease that divide! Modern day Disney ceaselessly documents the production processes of their films, but, by comparison, little has been available of the company’s behind the scenes action prior to the 1960s. I found these live-action reference images (via here), featuring actors who aided the animators’ work process by providing the speaking voice, and often standing in as an animation model, acting out the scenes and thereby assisting in movement references for their cartoon components.
