J.Crew Debuts First Ad on National TV

As much as I despise commercials and the added jolt of consumerism found in those throughout the holiday season, I’m full-on enamored  with Mastercard’s newest ad, a collaboration with J.Crew. In the corporation’s holiday spot touting their newly debuted MasterPass, a secure checkout service that increases the ease of online purchases, a family corral around to test themes for their holiday card, all while decked out in their J.Crew best. The ad marks the first national TV spot for the retailer, which has also expanded its presence overseas this fall with three new stores in London. Given current CEO Mickey Drexler’s ties to Gap (Drexler is the company’s former CEO), hopefully we can expect even more campaigns in the vein of the brand, complete with cable knits, bright prints, and Jenna Lyons-esque glasses.
